Troubleshooting Off-Campus Access Problems

Access to the Library's databases is restricted to current FLCC students, faculty and staff with valid FLCC computer accounts.

COMMON ACCESS PROBLEMS

STUDENTS, FACULTY & STAFF:

You access the Library databases using your FLCC computer network username and password. Your network account (which is the same as your WebAdvisor account), is provided and managed through the computing department.

  1. A known syncing issue exists, and most database access problems can be resolved by resetting your WebAdvisor password.
  2. If you can't remember your WebAdvisor account information, you can retrieve your account information by clicking on the Guest Access link located at: https://webadvisor.flcc.edu. Follow the User Account information/prompts on the screen. Login to the databases with your new password.

*Please note that you cannot change your WebAdvisor password from a mobile device or tablet as mobile web browsers are not compatible with the password change process of WebAdvisor. If you have already tried this and your information is "expired", you will need to submit a ticket to the IT Helpdesk.

  3. Database Security Errors
    • If you receive a security error, first try opening up an "incognito" window in Chrome (ctrl-shift-N) and trying to connect from there. If that does not solve your problem, and you are using Chrome or Firefox, look for an "advanced" button to click and accept the certificate. If there is none, try clearing your cookies (see below).

  4. Update Your Browser
    • In order for the EzProxy system to function properly, you need to make sure that you are using the most current version of your web browser. (Also, please note that support for Internet Explorer will soon be ending and you will need to use Microsoft Edge or another web browser.)

  5. Set Browser to Accept Cookies - clear from "time range - all time"
    • The FLCC proxy server works with most browsers, but you may need to enable cookies on your browser for the proxy server site.

  6. Delete Browser Cache
    • Delete browsing, search and download history, using the browser instructions for each specific browser.

  7. Enable Popups
    • Some databases require that popup windows be enabled. Remember to re-enable the popup blocker when your session is complete.

  8. Enable Javascript
